How we can enhance user personalization
I can listen to fascinating podcasts, audiobooks, and online radio all in one app with Noice. Personalization is essential in audio content platforms. In this case study, I'll look at how well Noice's personalisation works.
Is Noice simple to use for users? Is the content relevant to the user's interests? What should be improved?
Role: UX Researcher, UX Designer, UI Designer
Sector: Podcast, Sound
Time: 2 Weeks
Project Category: Case Study at Purwadhika
Research Plan
I conducted an interview with users to find out their real problems. The insight helped me understand the needs, wants, and pain points of Noice users.
Before conducting an interview, I defined the projects and did a competitive analysis. I also try to use Noice for a few days to get a hands-on experience of the personalization in Noice.
So, how do I know which user demographics I should target? How do I design questions that generate the most insight for me? These were my plans to prepare for the interview.
Interview Results
Following an interview with five people about the personalization of Noice, I asked them about their Noice usage behavior. I took notes on the results and then looked for similar problems that they had encountered. Then I decided which issues were most important and which I wanted to address.
The Insights
Users can't find a way to safe podcast.
Users can't find a queue list.
Overlapping Content in Koleksi Page.
Can’t see relevant and subscribed podcast at home.
Screen is too black and overcrowded.
These are the challenges that I identified when conducting user interviews for Noice customization. It focuses on dealing with the podcast saving problem so that people can listen to podcasts later. Because people who listen to podcasts afterwards play an important role in their Noice personalization journey.
How can I solve this problem
I have been searching for opportunities to address these problems and then organizing them into a prioritization matrix. It's important to determine which problems I need to solve. The most critical issue that needs attention is the ability to save podcasts. Without the option to add a podcast to the playlist, there is no way to save it. However, the process of adding it to a playlist involves too many steps to be considered an instant saving method. Additionally, since it's not available on the 'koleksi' page, adding it to the queue cannot serve as an instant save either.
Considering this, the potential solutions for the podcast saving issue are as follows:
Transform the queue feature into a save feature, eliminating the need for new additions.
Display the queue list on the 'koleksi' page for easy access.
How to improve the flow
The problem I want to solve is the inability to save podcasts instantly. It was challenging for users in the previous user flow to save their podcasts to listen to later or on the next day.As a result, the solution is to add a 'save podcast' option to the queue.
To make this possible, I will post the queue list on the Koleksi Page. Users can easily find their podcasts to listen to later by using the queue list on the Koleksi page.
User Flow
I can fulfill a user's desire to perform with it and with values that users associate with Noice ownership. Solving problems in an approachable and aesthetically pleasing way.
How do I address the issue of podcast saving so that users have a positive experience when searching for and listening to later podcasts?
Usability Testing
I observed the participant's behavior and listened for feedback while the participant completed each task. Maze was used for quantitative analysis, and interviews were used for qualitative analysis. I conducted the interviews and usability testing offline. searching for and listening to later podcasts?
UT Results
The first flow that was tested was adding to the queue, and no pain points were discovered, as users completed it successfully in a reasonable time and with a high click rate.
The second flow involves playing a podcast from a queue list, which takes a considerable amount of time for users to complete. Despite four users accessing the queue list through the koleksi page, a high misclick rate is observed, especially on the koleksi page.
Conclusion
In the future improvement, I suggest the iteration for this koleksi page is to let the continue playing in the top area, and replace histori component with queue list.
